Well I guess I have to try out the medical system in every country I walk in... Started having a sore throat 2 days ago and it was getting worse (didn't think this would happen after the tonsillectomy). Anyways we ran into a lady just before arriving in Medesano yesterday and she said to go to the Guardia Medica, basically a clinic with on duty doctors. I was very impressed by their efficiency: got there and was directly sent to doctor's office, didn't wait, he took a look at my throat and said there was an infection that needed antibiotics. He left and came back a minute later with the meds. Total of 5 minutes in the clinic and best surprise: I didn't need to pay anything! Apparently, they think it's too much paperwork ;-)
Today we were really in the mountains with mostly up and a little down but steep slopes and rocky paths which were quite hard on our ankles, feet and knees. We almost feel like we went over the Pyrenees... We also were very fortunate to encounter Ottorino and Silviana and there family on our way up where we were expecting to find a bar and place to rest but niente. They provided a nice shady terrace, water, coffee, brioches, fruit and entertainment!
We were welcomed in Cassio by Andrea who takes care of the ostello here, it's nice for a pilgrim to stay in a place where the bed has sheets and towels and there is a washing machine to clean clothes. We even have a full breakfast waiting for us in the morning. Luxurious!
Tonight, for my last night in Italy, we went out to dinner and enjoyed a nice meal and even delicious cake for Dad's birthday tomorrow!
Thankful for a great holiday and time with dad! Despite some of the inconveniences of the VF... Hope to get to Rome next year. Wishing luck and praying for God's protection on dad as he continues walking for a week.

Ben je suppose que je dois essayer le système médical dans chaque pays où je marche... J'ai commencé à avoir un peu mal à la gorge il y a 2 jours et ça à empire (je ne pensais pas que c'était possible après une amygdalectomie). Bref, nous avons rencontré une dame en arrivant à Medesano et elle nous a dit d'aller à la Guardia Medica, une permanence médicale. J'ai été très impressionnée par leur efficacité : je suis arrivée et suis directement allée voir le médecin, pas d'attente, il a vu ma gorge et a dit que j'avais une infection qui nécessitait des antibiotiques. Il est parti et revenu une minute plus tard avec les médicaments. Total de 5 minutes dans la permanence et bonne surprise, c'était gratuit! Apparemment, c'est trop de paperasse ;-)
Aujourd'hui, on était vraiment dans les montagnes avec beaucoup de montées et quelques descentes mais surtout sur des chemins raides et caillouteux ce qui est dur pour nos chevilles, pieds et genoux. On aurait presque dit qu'on traversait les Pyrénées... Nous avons aussi été très chanceux de rencontrer Ottorino et Silviana et leur famille sur la montée quand on s'attendait à trouver un bar pour se reposer et rien. Ils nous ont accueilli avec une terrasse ombragée, de l'eau, du café, des brioches, des fruits et de l'animation !

Andrea qui s'occupe du gîte, c'est super pour un pèlerin de rester dans un lieu où il y a des draps sur le lit, des linges et un lave-linge. Nous avons même un petit déjeuner complet prévu demain matin. Quel luxe!
Ce soir, pour ma dernière soirée en Italie, nous sommes sorti manger un bon plat et même un excellent gâteau pour l'anniversaire de papa demain!
Je suis reconnaissante pour de superbes vacances et des bons moments avec papa! Malgré les inconvénients de la VF... J'espère arriver à Rome l'année prochaine. Je souhaite bonne chance à papa et je prie que Dieu le protège sur le chemin encore une semaine.
