Versoix - Archamps, 25 km
Cloudy and rain / Nuageux et pluie, 22-26' C
Our second day was marked by a longer stage than planned and a change in the weather, it was cloudy and we had rain showers during a good part of the day. We met my friend Katja at the train station in Versoix and she will be walking with us for 5 days. We took our first break in Bellevue and then continued towards Geneva. We stopped at the Botanical garden for lunch, sheltered under big trees. We then walked along the lake and up to the basilica to get our stamp, very peaceful church. Then headed through Geneva and to the cathedral through the old town. We continued on to Carouge where we stopped for coffee and yummy Italian ice cream! This break was topped off by a call from my brother Luke to announce his engagement to Erin! So exciting for both of them! We then kept walking through the Geneva countryside and finally crossed the French border to Archamps where we are spending the night. There was a little confusion trying to figure out the right road to take and we ended up walking a few extra kilometers today, a long stage and especially for our newbie pilgrim Katja. We rewarded ourselves and celebrated the good news of the day by eating out at the Buffalo grill.

Notre 2ème jour a été marqué par une étape plus longue et un changement de temps, c'était nuageux avec des averses intermittentes. Nous avons retrouvé mon amie Katja à la gare de Versoix qui va marcher avec nous 5 jours. Nous avons pris notre première pause à Bellevue et ensuite avons continué sur Genève. Nous avons profité d'une accalmie et des grands arbres pour manger le pique-nique au jardin botanique. Ensuite, nous avons longé le lac et nous sommes remontés à la basilique pour chercher notre tampon sur le passeport pèlerin, une belle église très paisible. Puis, nous avons été à travers la vieille ville et passé vers la cathédrale. Nous continuons via Carouge où nous avons pris une pause café et glace italienne! Cette pause a été l'occasion de parler avec mon frère Luke qui nous a appris ses fiançailles à Erin! Nous sommes très heureux pour eux! Nous avons poursuivi notre marche dans la campagne genevoise pour finalement arriver à la frontière française où nous passons la nuit. Cette étape, très longue surtout pour notre nouvelle pèlerine Katja, a été un peu plus longue et confuse or moment, en essayant de trouver de la route la plus direct. Du coup, nous nous sommes récompensés de l'effort et avons célébré la bonne nouvelle du jour en mangeant au Buffalo grill.
