Day 15 : Chased by the storm / Étape 15 : L'orage nous tourne autour (in English)
We have a short stage so we decide to sleep an extra half hour and take time to enjoy breakfast and talking with Daniel and Marie-Jo. Then we leave on the way, following the old GR65 and the shells, cause the new path take us around an extra 7km which aren't necessary... We briefly see the Rhône again and cross over into Chavanay. There we take a nice long break, picnic in the park and stop by the bar for a "café noisette" (coffee with cream) and to fill up on fresh water. We leave and climb up a steep rocky path to La Chapelle du calvaire, it's worth it, it's a pretty little chapel and the view on Chavanay and the Rhône is gorgeous. We then continue up to Ribaudy, and we can hear the thunder roaring. After a short break we go down a small ravine, the storm seems to be following us. As we are walking on a little plateau, the wind picks up and the storm is coming. We go down a second ravine and on the way up we make a stop to put on the rain gear, with less than 1km to Bessey. The rain is getting harder as we arrive at the church. We take refuge there while waiting for our hostess Françoise. She lives in Pelussin, 5-6km off the path so she picked us up with her car. She drives us to a nearby store, as tomorrow is Sunday and we need to get some food. During that time, it's now hailing outside! She brought us back to her little house, where we spent a nice evening remembering stories from our former caminos.
