The past 2 days, we have had less elevation, occasionally a steep path up or down but generally more flat as we are in the plains. Yesterday, we met Marie-Christine in Ornacieux where we stopped for lunch and she had us over for coffee, a nice encounter and as we were chatting we find out she would be coming over at our hostel for an aperitif! She told us that Nadine, our host, had a pool, which was such a great surprise! We got there and spent a while in the water relaxing and stretching our tired muscles. We also got to share the meal with her daughter Margot and 2 Austrian pilgrims. A really good time of sharing with Nadine and Margot until almost midnight!
Today, it was hard to get up after a short night but we got ready and enjoyed breakfast with Nadine and Margot. We then took off and walked through the fields on a flat road, a good way to start. We had a climb to reach Pommier-de-Beaurepaire where we met Michelle, who offered us water and a couple tomatoes for our lunch, a good encounter! After our break we continued on ridge trail, it was pretty much flat despite a few rocks, but seemed never ending to Dad especially so we stopped under a tree for lunch. We continued to Revel-Tourdan where we filled up on much needed water. Then we walked down and under the TGV train tracks and up again. We could see dark clouds coming so we decided to take a shortcut on a road through a little town called Moissieu-sur-Dolon. There we took refuge into the church for a break while the rain came. It didn't last long so we were able to reach Bellegarde-Poussieu by 6pm, a long day with 24km. Then we enjoyed dinner and sharing with André and Danielle.
Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. Psalm 84:5
