Reached beautiful Cahors at noon today after a short hike, last part was a steep road down into the city but I took it easy. Cahors is a nice town surrounded by the Lot river in a U shape. It has many old bridges and historical buildings. Tonight, I will be going around town to visit some of them as well as the "night market" taking place on the main street. They also have a mass and pilgrim blessing at 6.30pm at the cathedral. Yesterday, I got lost for the first time. I stayed at the convent in Vaylats which is off the GR65 trail and when ready to leave I got on the right road but in the wrong direction... ended up walking an extra 3km :-( But it was ok, I still managed to get to Le Pech by 1.30pm and still enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at the hostel. I met Masumi, a guy from Japan (first one since I started, Camino is not really popular in Japan). When he started his pilgrimage his backpack weighed 30kg! He sent back a few things but it still weighs 20kg, he has a computer and transformer which weighs a tone. Can't even imagine carrying that much all day, I think mine is about 10kg. Tomorrow will be another short day and then I hope to increase the speed slightly as I am feeling better. A little thought for my pilgrim friend, Suzanne, who was finishing in Cahors, last Saturday. She is now off touring Beligum with her choir from Quebec for 2 weeks. And another thought for my friends from Westlake Church in Nyon who left for Rwanda last Saturday and are on a 2 week mission trip in Cyeza. God bless!


Je suis arrivée dans la magnifique ville de Cahors à midi après une journée assez courte, la dernière partie était une descente raide, mais j'y sui allée gentiment. Cahors est une belle ville entourée par la rivière Lot dans une forme en U. Il y a aussi beaucoup de vieux ponts et de bâtiments historiques. Ce soir, je vais aller y faire un tour et voir le marché nocturne dans la grande rue. Ils ont aussi une messe avec bénédiction des pèlerins à 18h30 à la cathédrale. Hier, je me suis perdue pour la première fois. Je suis restée au couvent de Vaylats qui est hors du chemin GR65 et quand je suis repartie, j'ai pris la bonne route mais dans la mauvaise direction... du coup j'ai fait 3km supplémentaires :-( Mais c'était pas grave, je suis quand même arrivée à Le Pech à 13h30 et j'ai profité d'un après-midi de repos au gite. J'ai rencontré Masumi, un Japonais (le premier car le Camino n'est pas très connu au Japon). Quand il a commencé son pèlerinage, son sac à dos pesait 30kg! Il a renvoyé quelques trucs mais il pèse encore 20kg, il a un ordinateur et convertisseur qui pèsent une tonne. Je peux même pas imaginer porter un tel poids toute la journée, me mien fait environ 10kg. Demain, je ferai encore une courte étape et ensuite, j'espère augmenter la cadence comme je vais mieux. Une petite pensée pour mon amie pèlerine, Suzanne, qui a fini à Cahors, samedi dernier. Elle est maintenant en tournée avec son choeur du Québec en Belgique pour 2 semaines. Et une autre pensée pour mes amis de l'église Westlake à Nyon qui sont partis samedi dernier en mission humanitaire au Rwanda pour 2 semaines à Cyeza. Dieu vous bénisse!
